The award will be given to her at a Texas Young Lawyers reception being held during the State Bar of Texas Annual meeting in Austin on Friday evening, June 27th.

The Liberty Bell Award recognizes an outstanding non-lawyer who has made a “selfless contribution to the community by strengthening the effectiveness of the American system of justice, and by instilling a better understanding and appreciation of the law.” The award recognizes community service that (1) promotes a better understanding of government, especially the Bill of Rights; (2) encourages greater respect for the law and the courts; (3) stimulates a deeper sense of individual responsibility so that citizens recognize their duties and rights; (4) contributes to the effective functioning of institutions of government; and (5) instills a better understanding and appreciation of the law.

We feel very blessed that she works with us, for all of us, and is very deserving of this award.”

In January, Sherman was named Volunteer Paralegal of the Year by the Tarrant County Bar Association for her work with the Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services Pro Bono Program. In March, she received the Liberty Bell Award from the Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association. She previously won the 2013 State Bar of Texas Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award — Paralegal Division.
